Funding Policies

Administrative Costs

Our policy is to ensure that as much as possible of donated funds go directly to the Amasango Career School and to the kids. We therefore work hard to ensure that Friends of Amasango’s admin costs are kept low. Last year our administrative expenses were less than 0.5% of donations received.

As Amasango grows additional administrative costs will be necessary, but we remain committed to keeping them to an absolute minimum and being transparent about them.

In this spirit, the recent revamp of our website and introduction of online donation facilities has been built on an entirely pro bono basis and our sincere thanks go to Anthony (http://www.fonant.com/), Fran (http://www.opechee.co.za/) and Kevin (www.kevboyd.carbonmade.com), for donating their valuable time and skills.

Sponsoring of specific children

While some charities offer the facility for donors to sponsor specific children, we feel that this introduces the opportunity for children to feel that some are being treated more favourably than others. At Amasango, all donations are pooled and focused on the benefit of all the children based on their particular needs.
