Fund-raising by Mutley Baptist Church
Jane Bradshaw’s visit to Mutley Baptist Church when she came to England in June, 2003, had a profound effect on many of the people there. My wife and I were motivated to spend our summer holidays in Grahamstown, helping teach the children (and staff) at the school and another member of our congregation has just returned from a three month stay with Jane.
Upon our return, the people at Church were keen to hear of our experiences, and help Jane and the children themselves, so we organised an African evening to raise money for Amasango. During the evening, my wife and I spoke for a short while about our experiences, showing slides of the school and the children and then we all sampled some genuine African food. We began with biltong, dried mango and plantain crisps, which were followed by potjies, cooked in proper potjie pots! Pudding, which was baked bananas, cinnamon and honey, was also cooked in a potjie! Of course, the meal was finished with a lovely cup of Rooibosch tea!
During the evening, everyone experienced a small glimpse of Africa and £300 was raised for Amasango.
